
Biography
Swiss opera singer Carlyn Monnin completed her studies at the Institut de Ribaupierre, a higher music school in Lausanne, where she obtained her piano teaching diploma in 2006 under the guidance of Enrico Camponovo. She also joined the professional singing class of Zoé Dragotescu. At the same time, she took organ lessons with Philippe Gigandet in Moutier. She later continued her vocal studies with Bruno Corti until she obtained her professional qualification at the Conservatoire de Delémont in 2010. She refined her voice with renowned teachers such as Alessandra Boër, Anne-Catherine Carega, Neil Semer, and Noëmi Nadelmann. She also attended masterclasses given by Brigitte Wohlfarth and Ioana Bentoiu.
Carlyn Monnin is a piano and opera singing teacher in Porrentruy and a member of the Swiss Society for Music Education.
Frequently invited as a soloist, Carlyn Monnin has performed under the direction of various conductors, including Michael Radulescu (Bach Academy), Julien Laloux (with Ensemble Alternances, notably at the "Week-end Musical de Pully" and "Piano à Porrentruy" festivals), Gabriel Wolfer (Tribunes Baroques), Rodrigo Carneiro Da Silva and Lukas Wanner (Vivaldi Choir), Facundo Agudin and Dieter Wagner (Espace Choral), Pascal Arnoux (Echo des Sommêtres), Vincent Pellet (premiere of Chasseral, conte musical fantastique), Manu Gerber (Ensemble Vocal d'Ergüel), and Nicolas Radulescu (Ensemble Eloquence).

She also sings in professional choirs such as the Ensemble Vocal ZeroNove, conducted by Lukas Wanner, and Ensemble Liberati.
In 2014, she had the honor of performing a duet with Lebanese tenor Eliya Francis during his visit to Switzerland.
In 2016, she collaborated with the band Silver Dust, performing on stage multiple times, including at the renowned Chant du Gros festival in Noirmont. That same year, she was awarded the cultural prize of the city of Porrentruy.
She frequently performs on stage, particularly in operatic-comic productions featuring works by Offenbach, Bizet, Chabrier, Satie, Honegger, and others.
A passionate chamber musician, she regularly gives recitals of all kinds. Possessing a wide vocal range, she transitions effortlessly between high and low registers. Her repertoire spans a broad range of musical styles, from Baroque to contemporary, including sacred music, oratorio, Lied, and opera. As a pianist and organist, Carlyn Monnin accompanies various choirs, singers, and instrumentalists. For eight years, she worked as a rehearsal pianist for the choir Espace Choral under the direction of Facundo Agudin.
In addition to her many musical commitments, Carlyn Monnin is also a composer. She wrote an a cappella mass for choir in 2005 and has published three piano collections in 2007, 2016, and 2020.
She has been featured in two television documentaries: Passe-moi les Jumelles on RTS in 2023 and Avis de passage on Canal Alpha in 2016.
